Freelance Videographer | Photographer | March 2014
The concern of finding steady work flow is part of the risk one takes when choosing the freelancers path. Boldy, Edgar, Ed, Eddy, Edgnar, whatever you deem appropriate, decided to follow his instincts and take a chance. After quitting his 9- 5 job photographing cheeseburgers and fancy bars in Orange County, nearly a year ago, he's been able to dive head first into sharing his passion for music, surf, fashion, and skate through his videos and photographs. Not too many people have the stomach to walk into the office and quit right there on the spot, but he did and gladly began working on a project with Levis that day. Slowly, but surely he began picking up work and recognition from record labels and some magazines through his raw work.

"I like my shoots to be a party...half party, half photo shoot." |
Growing up in Laguna Beach, living in New York, San Francisco, and now Los Angeles, Edgar's mind has been exposed to the good and bad of all cities. His talents have transformed and improved throughout the years of his adolescent days of surfing, deep interest in music, and surrounding himself with kids who had the same creative tastes have shaped him into who he is today personally and artistically.
Not knowing that these childhood friends would have such an influential impact on his life, a few years later they created an art collective, known as LEAF. While LEAF is a mystery to most it is also an undying dream of the creative minds involved. Throughout the years they have had spontaneous art shows in SF and LA, hand screen printing tees, and joining forces into creating work they are all passionate about. When he isn't editing, working, surfing, he tries to stay inspired…having an impromptu shoot in Malibu is another way to get some creative energy out too, right?
I was able to spend a day with him, model, Davia Gomez, and his team as they shot in Malibu Canyon and afterwards enjoyed some delicious tacos. His I don't give a care mentality and humbleness is inspiring in it's own way. I would wish him luck, but he doesn't need it. I know his passion to share his work will get him where he needs to be. |
"I hate all my work. I only enjoy creating it. Once its finished I never want to see it again, kind of like a bad one night stand."
