Jungle Dreams
By Shabnam Tavakol
Funny story about the moment I saw this dashing wild creature. It happened to be my final day in Panama. In fact, my last day after 3 long and inspiring months. Naturally I was very hung over this morning, as one must drink their sorrows away when an epic journey comes to an abrupt halt. Megan and I are dragging our feet along the 30 minute hike through the jungle to get to this secluded beach, Wizard Beach.
This beautiful tropical jungle suddenly goes from lush green forest then melts straight into sand and clear water. At the cusp you can have your back towards the ocean and will see solely green. If you turn around, you are on Caribbean sea for miles. So if you can imagine the moment when the ground below me went from dirt to sand it is a site to be seen in itself. This is also the exact moment I turn my head to the right and see this majestic stallion also standing on this border with me. I look at him, he looks at me, and then we both peer out to the ocean.

In this moment my entire body explodes into pins and needles. The combination of being hungover in this dreamlike state and actually witnessing one of the most picturesque moments of my lifetime is something I could have easily mistaken for a mirage. If it wasn't for this photo, certainly this moment would have been lost in the abyss of my imagination.
