Although new to motherhood, Bethany Lear has adjusted well and has taken a whole new outlook on life. Currently residing in San Francisco, living with her boyfriend, Salvatore Bertucci and six month old son Vincenzo, she embraces motherhood with questions and open arms. Herself and Co-Founder, Carolina Belier, have created MOTHRS, a website connecting and inspiring mothers to raise their children with style and affection, bringing together mothers all over the world as they share their lives. Spending the day with Bethany and her family, I can see how she has adjusted her life for the little human she has created. I admire her and her devotion for Vincenzo, Salvatore, and herself as they learn and grow each day.
Q & A
What made you decide to come up with MOTHRS?
Sometimes people would say things like "You don't look like a mom, you look great,” and I think I would take it the wrong way and just ran with it. I am a stay at home mom…in other words a teacher, top chef, and one hell of a maid. My job is not easy, but I love it and I chose this life. I think it’s best to do it with style and a smile.
What is your inspiration?
Women I see everyday. The women who go straight back to work after having children. I feel so damn lucky to watch my son grow everyday. I want to make the most of this opportunity and see it through with the best attitude.
What do you want to accomplish?
I like to think I am a simple girl. I'm hoping I can inspire women the way they inspire me. I want to have a present open mind in raising my son. Overall I have always wanted a happy family. I know it's all unclear what the future will bring, but I really believe that being conscious of these desires brings me that much closer. I know we are on the right path. Happiness has always seemed to be enough for me, I like to think that's more than most people accomplish in their life time.
How do you spend your days?
We spend most of our days at parks. I like to socialize him around the playground. When the weather is off, we go to a museum or aquarium. He’s pretty young to fully understand it all, but I know he absorbs everything. My partner in it all, Vincenzo’s Dad, Salvatore, is currently working from home and though Vincenzo may not remember these years, it’s really important to the two of us to see him grow everyday.
Favorite things to do?
Picking out cute outfits to coordinate with my baby. Building a community and bonding with other mothers. Enjoying great food and drinks with great people over great conversation. And when I can get a little time away I like to go to Target, grab a coffee and take my time going down every single isle, try on clothes and in the end only coming home with face wash and a new outfit for Vincenzo.
